Reading underground

A clip from the article's illustration, by Peter Arkle

The NYTimes publishes a whimsical and lovely way to illustrate commuters' book reviews.

Makes me truly thankful that, now that I'm on break, I can actually read for fun!  What a joyful concept, full of possibilities...  Any recommendations or favorites?

  1. Have I recommended Children of Men to you? It's not like the movie actually (it's explicitly Christian for one), though I know people do think well of the film. Of course, I have an extra copy, but you'll be busy again before I get back!

Concerning Christmas stories, Connie Willis' Doomsday Book is excellent, but in the realm of short stories, her Miracles collection is a lot of fun.
